There is one thing about horses, dogs and kids. Whatever can go wrong will. Sometimes when I am showing a horse I feel like just cracking up! Anything I tell a person about a horse will turn out wrong! I want to say, “I am not a liar, he doesn’t usually do this! I swear!”
Then again, sometimes it goes great. Those times make up for all the not-so-great-shows. When the perfect person, finds the perfect horse or dog and there is magic. That makes it all worth it!
I am truly one of the most blessed people in the world! I think I got to grow up to be just what I always wanted to be! Plus I have two of the best kids in the world to keep me company on my journey and enrich it and make it perfect!
I thought I would take and opportunity to tell you more about myself. I possess a few talents.
I can grow a garden and can put up the veggies.
I can pluck a turkey and cook it up real good.
I can make homemade bread and gravy from scratch and I’m not afraid to serve them at every meal.
I can shoot and field dress a deer.
I can castrate a calf and geld a stud.
I have milked a goat, cow and mare.
I can train a horse. Or dog. Or steer. (I am still working on the kids. Wish me luck!)
I can load a ton of hay. (Or more.)
I know a lot about vetting. And I learn more each day.
This is my boy Snip in May of 2010.
Here is he in the Spring of 2013. And he is still growing!
Snip is one of my favorite things.
I also like old country music.
The smell of skunks, cows, horses and puppy breath!
Homemade wine, garlic and cheese.
Beautiful art.
Dancing.
Riding.
Campfires and s’mores.
The lake.
Disney Land!
I love to take pictures.
I love doing fun things. Did you know a pony will fit in a Ford Explorer? (We call it the Exploder. And baby foals fit in there too.)
Other than loading livestock in vehicles never meant to carry livestock I have a few other talents as well.
I can trip on a flat surface.
Choke on my own spit.
Sometimes talk faster than I can think and alternately think faster than I can talk.
I can eat the daily recommended amount of calories for breakfast.
My little girl once told me - “Mommy, you’re crazy. But beautiful. But more beautiful than crazy.” It is, to this day, the best compliment I have ever received.
Thanks of joining me here at the barnyard. I look forward to getting to know more about each of you as well! Come back soon.
